Tongue Ring Retainers Are A New Alternative To Traditional Tongue Rings

Everyone knows about the ever popular accessory for their mouths, the tongue ring. But have you ever heard of a retainer for a tongue piercing? Many people think of braces when they hear the word “retainer” so tongue retainers are unique to most of America today.

There are plenty of definitions for a retainer. In general, a retainer is some type of tool, used to keep something in place. In this case, a tongue piercing retainer is a clear, plastic barbell-shaped ring that goes around the tongue ring to hide the piercing.

Wearers of tongue piercings have said that these retainers are great for their job or for their school’s dress code. One of the most common reasons people wear them are because they have a piercing that is not allowed at their job. For example, it might not be appropriate to wear a noticeable tongue ring to a job interview at a bank. Most jobs where you will be working with customers at a constant pace would expect you to be dressed in a professional manner every day so you can look presentable and appropriate.

Retainers are a unique and fun way to hide a piercing so those who sport the accessories don’t have to feel like they aren’t spunky when they wear the retainers. You can still keep your individuality by wearing the retainers because you are separating yourself from the crowd just by wearing something different in your mouth than anyone else!

If you search around for tongue ring retainers, you will find that most of them come in a clear color. It is not impossible to find them in a different color but the most common color for the retainers is clear. Other popular colors include pink and orange. You might think it’s weird to wear them in colors if you’re trying to hide the piercing but people don’t only wear retainers to hide piercings, they also wear them for the comfort. Some say they love wearing the retainers because they can barely feel them so they are extremely comfortable and flexible.

Those that sport tongue rings come to a point where they either have to give up wearing them or find a way to hide them extremely well. The hole from the piercing can take a while to close and can be a pain if you get food stuck in it so some folks don’t like to use the option of closing the hole. If you can wear a tongue ring and get away with it, why wouldn’t you? The best way to hide them is by getting a retainer.
