The Trawick Prize: Bethesda Modern Art Awards, a juried artwork competitiveness produced by the Bethesda Arts & Leisure District, announced the 2022 prize winners all through last night’s awards reception.

WonJung Choi of Richmond, VA was awarded the prestigious “Best in Show” title and obtained the $10,000 top prize. Caryn Martin from Baltimore, MD was named next area and offered $2,000 Robert Martin from Staunton, VA was bestowed third place and been given $1,000 and Evie Metz from Henrico, VA was awarded the Younger Artist Award and gained $1,000.

Entries have been juried by Alexis Assam, Regenia A. Perry, Assistant Curator of Worldwide Up to date Art at The Virginia Museum of Fantastic Arts (VFMA) Thomas James, Visual Arts Curator at Artistic Alliance in Baltimore, MD and Maria del Carmen Montoya, Assistant Professor of Sculpture and Spatial Practices, Director of Graduate Experiments, M.F.A. in Wonderful Arts and Social Follow, Studio Arts Method.

Founded by Carol Trawick in 2003, the regional competitors is just one of the largest prizes to on a yearly basis honor visible artists. Ms. Trawick, a longtime local community activist in downtown Bethesda, also recognized the Bethesda Painting Awards in 2005. She has served as the Chair of the Bethesda Arts & Amusement District, Bethesda Urban Partnership, Strathmore and the Maryland Condition Arts Council. She launched the Jim and Carol Trawick Basis in 2007 to guide health and fitness and human expert services and arts non-income in Montgomery County, MD. The Basis has awarded grants to additional than 90 nonprofits in Montgomery County and resources the yearly Trawick Prize and the Bethesda Painting Awards.
