Maria Marino provides the vivid colors of her working day-time landscapes into the evening with her pastel nocturnes. See additional of her function (equally working day and evening) in our Voices of Working experience post. We’ve questioned some of our preferred artists to display us illustrations of their night time paintings and to tell us a minor little bit about their processes in this sequence of Nocturne Notes.
Marino shared with us these two examples of her exuberant, expressive pastel nocturne paintings. She instructed us that her intention is in “catching the thriller of that distinct time of night”

fairly than to realize, to discover instead than to study,
and to appreciate it relatively than to go it by.”
