Mongolia Image Journey – July 2022
This journey had originally been prepared for July 2020, then COVID transpired. I am eternally grateful that people hung on to their reservations for two yrs and we had been in a position to have an awesome excursion!
Our concentration was cultural, while we did have a very number of wildlife sightings including a critically endangered saiga antelope that galloped earlier us in a flash.
We ended up able to keep with and photograph the legendary Kazakh eagle hunters and even crashed a wedding day. In close proximity to Khovd we went to a regular pageant called a nadaam, with dusty, spirited horse races, and beefy wrestlers who designed shorter perform of troopers who ended up attending. Lastly, as component of the team break up off to photograph the endangered takhi (Przewalski’s horse) I was capable to satisfy with shamans. In the Soviet era, Shamanism (and Buddhism) had been repressed, but the historical cultural traditions are earning a resurgence.
The wide steppe and arid mountains of Mongolia are spectacular. It is awe-inspiring to witness a rainstorm sweeping throughout the land and passing clouds dapple the hillsides. It is definitely one of the past destinations exactly where one can experience so smaller yet invigorated by mother nature.
