Jackson’s Painting Prize 2023 Announced

We’re delighted to announce that submissions for Jackson’s Painting Prize 2023 are now open. With an impressive expert judging panel, two London exhibitions, a first prize of £6000 + £1000 Jackson’s art materials, plus 15 other awards, we’re ready for our biggest year yet.

The competition started in 2016 and has steadily grown, last year receiving nearly 9000 entries from 107 countries. We continue to be amazed by the diversity and standard of work entered, and look forward to seeing this year’s entries.

Judges for Jackson’s Painting Prize 2023

Our panel of expert judges have been selected for their incredible contributions to the art world of today. Ranging from practising artists, critics, writers, and gallerists, each judge will bring a unique perspective to cultivate a varied selection of winners. Throughout December we will be publishing interviews with the judges to find out more about their work and what they will be looking for this year.

Kayoon Anderson: Figurative painter, Sky Portrait Artist of the Year Runner Up

Hugo Barclay: Director of the Affordable Art Fair UK.

Martin Gayford: Art Critic, curator, and author of books such as In Conversation with David Hockney and Spring Cannot be Cancelled

Exhibitions of Artworks from Jackson’s Painting Prize 2023

This year, we are exhibiting our winners at two exhibitions. Our first stop will see us return to the Affordable Art Fair Hampstead, which takes place between 3rd-7th May 2023. Later on, we take the winners and more of the shortlist in another exhibition at Bankside Gallery, from the 24th-30th July 2023. This will be the first year we are exhibiting at two shows, and our first independent venture.

 


 

FAQs

Who can enter?

We accept 2D paintings and drawings. Artists of all ages, abilities, and stages of their career are welcome. We also accept international entries. You must have access to the original work you submit.

We are unable to accept 3D sculptural work, print, photography, or computer generated work.

 

How much does it cost to enter?

It costs £6 per artwork to enter. You can submit up to five artworks (Five artworks = £30). All entry fees go back into the running of the competition, including improving opportunities for winners.
